I’m a blipper

Darcie's Blipfoto

Some great guys from Rocket in Edinburgh designed and built Blipfoto.com. Co-founded by Joe Tree and then developed by the team into a fully-fledged online system during any studio downtime.

Blipfoto.com allows anyone to set up their own journal and publish one photo a day for free.

It started in July 2006 and since then the site has grown well beyond expectations.

Where Flickr, enables users to share sets & collections, Blipfoto is more of a photo Journal, often with stories or thoughts behind the photo that was taken, a current event or a situation that occurred during that day/when photo was taken.

With Flickr I can upload events and share them with my family & friends all thousands of miles away, Blipfoto takes more concentration and an actual effort to take a photo, that I deem usable, DAILY. Thanks to meta data, the picture must be uploaded on the day it’s taken.

So far I’m having to learn discipline, but in the end I think it’s totally worth it.

Set up your own account and share your days. Just let me know your user name!

UPDATE:  Yesterday marked Blip’s 3rd birthday and the launch of their iPhone App! Get yours, it’s free!

Got my MOO cards today!

moo cards = SO much fun!

Über psyched. Even though my handmade ones have been quite the party favour. To see my actual Moo card: you have to find me and ask for one! They’re fab – or better yet, make your own (and get one of mine too!).

Also, if you haven’t bumped into them yet and you’re a flickr user/fan, check out fd flickr toys, by Big Huge Labs. So much cool stuff to do with your pics – whether or not they are on flickr!

d is for dream

Due to the course in which my life has run, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking today about dreams and people who do whatever they can to follow theirs.

I am primarily talking about following dreams when it comes to careers and ultimately being happy. In my opinion, if you aren’t happy in your career, you probably won’t be happy in the long run.

Many of the greats had a really hard time before they ended up where they are/were when they left us. It really amazes me how they didn’t give up.

I wonder how many great people there are out there, who could be doing great things, given the opportunity, and how many of them are on the verge of just saying “fuck it”.

Maybe not even realising that it could be right there. The next step, the next door. Maybe they’ll never know, but it’s the gamble of success the next possible day versus years more of defeat.

D - real thing special A letter R C i E glowing

I found this fun time waster on the cool hunting site. It was created by a fella by the name of Erik Kastner. You type in your name, a phrase, what have you, and it finds the letters from photos in Flickr and spells it out for you. Quite rapidly too I might add.

Tate X-Files

During our trip to the Tate Modern in London a couple weeks ago, not only was there a huge crack going the length of the entire ground floor, but also a group of people that I can only guess were along the lines of Scientologists.

They should be scheduled for a regular appearance at the installation, it made the experience so much more surreal.

“Nice coat, tie, trousers and shoes.”

Look out! They’re behind you!

closer inspection

What a wonderful world.

Evil Monkeys

I took the left one at the left one at the Edinburgh Zoo. The right Image is from Family Guy. Uncanny resemblance I think… Maybe it’s the teeth…

MyPhotos

Photos from our trip to Arran. From the port of Androssan to the Brodick Ferry Port and beyond.
